Enrichment

SES offers a variety of enrichment clubs that students can participate in every Tuesday afternoon during school.  Some clubs are teacher-selected, while others have an application process.  All classrooms offer enrichment opportunities, regardless if a student participates in a club.  Check-out some of our clubs below!

Be a Fan Club
with Ms. Sugi and Ms. Eichelberger

Project Be a Fan, is an education-based program that uses the sports and education initiatives of Special Olympics to activate youth to promote school communities where all young people are agents of change—fostering respect, dignity, and advocacy for people with disabilities.

Chorus
with Mr. Runyan
Sandy's Singers is a group of 40 students that perform multiple times throughout the year. We work heavily on vocal and performance technique. Students sing songs from around the world and learn a variety of languages, from Italian to Spanish. Our main focus this semester is on American songs, spanning from African-American Spirituals, to Folk Songs, to Pop Music.

Art Club
with Ms. McCann

Art Club is a year-round club for 3rd and 4th graders that accepts 30 students. Applicants should have an excitement about creative expression and commitment to  work hard and participate with positive attitude. It is a more laid-back studio-feel where students can pursue personal exploration! Their work is showcased during Arts Night.

Tiger Cub Cadets
with Ms. Means

The Tiger Cub Cadet Program is a leadership opportunity for students to become dedicated to serving and representing Sandhills Elementary School. Tiger Cub Cadets serve as homeroom representative and perform duties at various school events, and provide campus tours to new students.

Gifted and Talented
with Ms. Scaglione and Ms. Moulton

In GT, students work on a variety of independent and collaborative projects that challenge their thinking skills and creativity. GT students are challenged to think critically and discover the world around them through research, technology, and hands-on exploration.

Kids Making a Difference
with Ms. Garrick

The Kids Making a Difference club was started by students who felt they wanted to make a positive difference in our school community. The club meets once a week. They are in charge of the schools box gardens being set up, the outdoor classroom, and spreading kindness around the school. The club will also be participating in a service learning project that will impact our local community in the spring.

Green Team
with Ms. Miller and Ms. McCann

Green Team is a small group of 4th grade students that gather and separate all of SES recyclable materials.  SES currently recycles large amounts of paper, cardboard, and plastic each week!

Fit Club
with Coach Enlow

Fit club is an opportunity for interested students to engage in additional physical activity with a greater focus on fitness instead of a more skill acquisition approach like in PE class. The students do this through participation in competitive and cooperative games, challenges, and exercises.
